Strobing is in. Contouring is out.
Makeup Strobing. the New Contouring.
Hello Summer. Hello glowing, natural beauty.
Heavy contouring is waving us “see you later” (because let’s be honest... we know it will be back, just as it did after its last glory days in the 90’s) and clearing the way for a simpler and more believable way to sculpt your face. Welcome “Strobing” into your new sexy makeup routine.
Makeup Strobing
Unlike the recent trend of using deep contrast to create a defined bone structure, Strobing focuses on enhancing the high planes of your already gorgeous face. No harsh lines allowed! Using a soft focus created by luminous products applied on the perfect spots, you can achieve a softer contour and highlight.
Apply a soft glowing product on the high points of your face, where the light would naturally hit it; on the bridge of your nose and lips, and the top of your cheekbones. The intensity is up to you. What are you in the mood for: candlelight or radiant sun?
There are wonderful options in creams, fluids and powders to choose from depending on what works best with your beauty routine (or layer them for drama and longevity!).
HD Powders
Go easy on the heavy shimmer if you live in a warmer climate or your face tends to be oily - (you already have a glow!). A soft brightening powder is your best bet. This HD Eye Lift Powder from Senna is a good one to have on hand. You may also like this Bronzer Powder from Charlotte Tilbury.
Facial Creams
If you live in a more tempered zone or your skin is mixed or on the drier side, you can indulge in facial creams like this Shimmering Facial Whip from e.l.f. and liquid products.
This Chic Luminosity Highlighter Stick is also a great find and super affordable at your local Target.
Give this new sculpting trend a chance and have fun with it. Not only is it a lot easier and faster, but a clear nod to loving our own bone structure and celebrating it!
